Sunday Preview (May 21, 2023)

Our Spring Series: Out of the Box & Outside the Lines.

God often brings order to the chaos. But humans have a way of taking the good and using it for power and control. In those moments, God will lead us to color outside the lines and think out of the box. The revolution of love and justice that Jesus so often preached is just such a moment.

Let’s explore stories of God taking us outside the lines, as we imagine where that type of creativity and imagination might be needed in our world today.

THIS SUNDAY: A Network of Interconnected Love | Paul writes in Ephesians that we are supposed to be unified. One God, one Spirit, one baptism, one hope, one body. In essence, we are connected to one another. But too often people place themselves above one another. Even when trying to do good, one group is usually set-up as bringing something to another group. It’s still disconnected. How can we move towards mutuality? How can we become ‘one’?

Little Free Library Ribbon Cutting – Sunday, May 21st

Come help us celebrate our new Little Free Library! We’re having a ribbon-cutting celebration immediately after worship on Sunday, May 21, outdoors by the library. People present will have the opportunity to select a book from those we have available and place it into the library, symbolizing that we each have a part to play in offering this library to our larger community. We will then hear from City Councilperson Cory Springhorn and enjoy special book cookies.

HERE is a letter that expresses our gratitude and our plans for the ribbon cutting.

To help keep the Little Free Library stocked with good books, we are recruiting help. If you would like to join us, you can sign-up HERE!

Family Game Night – This Sunday

Join us on Sunday night as we get back outside for Family Game Night. Peace will provide the hotdogs, buns, and some drinks.

Feel free to bring a side or dessert to share. And BRING A FRIEND!

Congrats Jak! Deaconx

Jak Henderson (he/him, they/them) was consecrated last month as a deaconess/ home missioner in New York at the national assembly. Jak is one of 10 people in the Minnesota Annual Conference with this special distinction.

At Peace, we are thrilled to have Jak serving in this way. And we look forward to exploring how his new role can positively impact our church community and the local community.

Although not an officially recognized title (yet!), Jak likes the term ‘deaconx’ as it includes a wider recognition of sexuality and gender. Make sure to congratulate Jak on this important achievement.

Peace Prayers

Do you have a specific need?

Do you want to share a specific celebration of gratitude?

Peace Prayers is a space to share specific prayer requests and specific celebrations of gratitude. These are not going to be private…these are public. Our plan is to put them in the bulletin and/ or on a slide in The Commons, and include them in the Tuesday News weekly email.

We invite you to share with one another so we can be a praying people – both in times of hurt and struggle, and in times of joy and celebration.
