All-Church Picnic May 22

Join everyone for the fun after church next Sunday for a bonfire picnic potluck extravaganza! We will be in the outside worship area, weather permitting. Be sure to greet Pastor Jason, Michelle and their boys in the midst of the games, food, and conversation. Use this link to register your attendance and tell us how you can help. (But if you forget, please come anyway!)

Eagle Project Thanks!

Brody Stefanik would like to thank all who so generously donated their time and tools last Saturday to help complete his Eagle Project—Tim, Bob, Chuck, Tom, Henry, Gianna. The new benches in the outdoor sanctuary look amazing! Also special thanks to Jim for aiding in the planning of the project.

Celebration/Ringers Picnic Reminder

The Celebration Chorale finishes its 2021-2022 program year this Wednesday evening (May 18) with its traditional year-end picnic at the shelter in Turtle Lake Park. Everyone who has participated in the Celebration Choir or Ringers of Peace this year is welcome to attend and bring family members. Dinner time is 6 pm. Please bring a dish to share. Grilling space is available for those who wish to grill something. In the case of inclement weather, we will gather in the church Fellowship Hall.

Calling All Graduates!

Let us know if there’s a graduate in your family so we can celebrate with you! Send us a (digital) photo of your graduate along with the name of their school and plans for the future. Send them right away if possible but, please, no later than May 29. We’ll gather these together for a special email in early June and a recognition of all our graduates on Sunday, June 5.

Love and Prayers

Joe and Sadie Hatcher recently received the tough medical news that Joe has lung cancer which has spread. He begins his treatment plan of chemo and radiation this week. Joe and Sadie have always been quick to help others in need. Now we have the opportunity to help them this summer by taking care of their lawn for them. Joe and Sadie live at 4387 Bambi Lane, White Bear Township, MN 55110. Please keep Joe and Sadie in your prayers.

Weekly volunteers are also needed to maintain the church grounds by mowing on Thursdays or Fridays so our church yard looks neat for weekend worship, Saturday morning for our Redeemer Salvation congregation and Sunday morning for Peace folks. (But Saturday afternoon works in a pinch.) It takes about three hours for one person to mow and weed whip.

Use this link to sign up for either of these opportunities, as often as you wish:

Spring Cleanup Opportunities Coming Up on Saturday (May 21)

On Saturday morning (9-noon), you can join a Peace work team in collaboration with Northeast Youth & Family Services (NYFS) to help seniors in our community get their yards ready for summer. Tasks may include raking leaves, mowing lawns, weeding, trimming and putting out lawn furniture. If you’d like to help out, please contact Chuck Monroe at at 763-486-0213 or cnlmonroe@comcast.net.

On Saturday afternoon, the trustees’ spring workday will focus on cleaning out the garage. Contact Tim Fried (651-600-1316) if you can help.

Outdoor Worship Plans for the Summer

Weather permitting, we will worship outside on first Sundays in June, July, and August and on national holidays. Additionally, we’ll bless our animal companions on the first Sundays of June and August, and we’ll honor our 2022 graduates on the first Sunday of June as well. In short, mark your calendar for these dates:

May 29 – Memorial Day, outdoor worship
June 5 – outdoor worship, blessing of the animals, recognition of graduates
July 3 – Independence Day, outdoor worship
August 7 – outdoor worship, blessing of the animals,
September 4 – Labor Day, outdoor worship

In case of rain, we’ll worship in the sanctuary.

Help Us Dial Down the Mortgage

In this month of five Sundays, you may contribute to our Fifth Sunday program which applies funds directly to the principal on our mortgage. Go online (to the Participants page of our website, note the ‘Donate’ area, log into Simple Church, and click the Fund dropdown to select Fifth Sunday). Or if you prefer, put a check in the plate on Sunday or mail one to the church office with ‘5th Sunday’ written in the memo line. Thank you!
