New participants

We welcome these young people, affirmed on April 10, into the Peace community:

They are Henry Ewald, Anika Jensen, Kendal Johnson, Gavin Miller, Talia Moore, Joe Navratil, and Brody Stefanik.

Next Sunday (April 17) is Easter!

Easter treats will be available for children in the Commons following worship.

Thanks to all of you for making the concert such a success!

Bobby Jo Valentine presented a great concert on March 26, and donations to OutFront totaled just over $2000. Bobby blessed us with music and conversation at worship on Sunday as well. Gary had the time of his life “bouncing around” and talking to everyone!

Help with community yard work

Help seniors in our community get their yards ready for summer! Northeast Youth & Family Services (NYFS) is currently recruiting volunteers, and Peace is organizing teams to help. Work will be conducted according to current COVID-19 safety protocols to protect both volunteers and seniors. Tasks may include raking leaves, mowing lawns, weeding, trimming and putting out lawn furniture. NYFS work is being planned for Saturdays, April 30th and May 7th, from 9 am to around noon.

Chuck Monroe will lead the PUMC team on April 30th; if people are interested in working May 7th, someone will need to step forward to lead it as Chuck will be out of town that weekend. If you’d like to help out on April 30th, please contact Chuck at cnlmonroe@comcast.net. If you are interested in working May 7th and are open to lead, we can arrange that day too – contact Chuck to get in the loop. In either case, NYFS would like a count of teams by Friday, April 15th, so please drop a quick note to express your interest so we can get things rolling.

(Note: There is a COSROW Good Neighbor Meal scheduled at the same time on April 30th – be careful not to double book;-)

Thanks for considering these opportunities to serve our neighbors.

UMCOR update on Ukraine

In the six weeks since the Russian invasion began, the United Methodist Committee on Relief  already has received more than $5 million for aid to displaced persons in Ukraine and refugees arriving in neighboring counties. UMCOR has so far distributed $2 million, helping to provide food, water, medicine, shelter, transportation and other services for those on the run.

How to help: United Methodists and others wishing to provide humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people may contribute to United Methodist Global Ministries Advance #982450, UMCOR International Disaster Response and Recovery.

United Methodists who formerly served in Ukraine also suggest, as a way to get help fast to United Methodists working directly with refugees, Advance #14053A: Eurasia in Mission Together — Ukraine and Moldova.
