The Immortal Plastic Bottle
What are plastics and how did they become such an integral part of our daily lives? Invented around the turn of the 20th century, when raw materials seemed infinite and the natural world’s ability to buffer human waste and pollution seemed boundless, plastics have grown ever more abundant and diverse. This presentation will examine the hidden costs of convenience and offer sustainable alternatives to this modern marvel, plastics.
Speaker Mary Kosuth is a Climate Change Instructor and PhD student at the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health (SPH), in the Environmental Health Sciences Division.
