A Christmas Cantata by Joel Raney
Performed by the Celebration Chorale
January 2, 2022. Before the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, it had been customary for the Celebration Chorale to present a special seasonal music presentation as part of one of the Advent worship services. 2021 marks the second Advent season that the pandemic has made such a live presentation inadvisable. In 2020, with no in-person worship experiences, this musical presentation was done in video format and sent out to the congregation through the church website.
With in-person worship now taking place and the addition to our sanctuary of our new large monitors, we are pleased to bring this seasonal music presentation to you live, though still in video format, as part of our worship experience this morning.
The musical presentation, by gifted contemporary composer/arranger Joel Raney, entitled simply, Peace, uses arrangements of many favorite carols of the season, along with short narrations reflecting on various aspects of the gospel birth stories, to help us to reflect on the birth of Jesus, particularly as we consider him during this season as Prince of Peace.
