Peace Musical Meditations – January 8, 2021
I have a friend who had a heart attack in his mid-40’s. This dramatic event led to significant heart surgery at the time. But my friend is now a healthy person in his late 70’s because he subsequently took up the challenge of changing his daily diet and initiating daily walking exercise. In like manner, while the Chaos at the Capital this week should call for dramatic responses as regards consequences for the actors and instigators of this event, the long-term health of our national and local communities will require much of all of us as we either seek new, health-inducing kinds of community interactions or recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of this nature in our lives. Below are links to three resources that I hope will nurture you on this journey.
On a Journey by Tom Ehrich
This is not music. It is a short written book excerpt that appeared in my daily reading/study/prayer material this morning. Reading this was the little spark that set off this issue of Peace Musical Meditations. I hope you find it inspirational.

By the way – I very highly recommend this study/reflection material, called Reading Between the Lines. I have lost track, but probably have used it for at least the last 15 years. It is great for personal use, but would also be great material for an ongoing spiritual nurture group. Should any of you decide to begin using it and want to form such a group please let me know. The URL below will take you to information about the material.

Between the Lines
I recorded this song right at the beginning of the pandemic, before I began using video editing software. It seemed best to resend it now still in its audio format. Please, just pretend you are listening to your radio. I think you will hear that the song is very fitting to the present subject.

Bread for the Journey
Finally, this keep on keepin’ on song that I also recorded very early in the pandemic shut down time. I hope you can internalize this song, keeping it handy for all those daily decisions and forks in the road that Tom Ehrich so eloquently illuminates.
