Updated COVID Protocol

According to CDC guidance about community transmission levels and the currently low levels of transmission in Ramsey, Anoka, and Hennepin Counties, Peace is updating its COVID policy. We no longer require masks in worship. (People may, of course, choose to mask at any time.) People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 are encouraged to stay home in order to take care of themselves and to help protect the Peace community.

If our status changes, we will notify you.

We have returned to having our songbooks located under the pew chairs, passing the plate for the offering, and signing the attendance pads that are passed up and down the rows. Please remember to sign in! (We must submit our weekly attendance to Annual Conference.) Fellowship times following worship are back, too!

Church Conference on April 10

There will be a Church Conference (Congregational Meeting) to approve the Pastoral Support Package for Pastor Jason Steffenhagen Sunday April 10, 2022 at 11:30 am. Pastor Steffenhagen is being appointed to Peace beginning Sunday, May 1, 2022. Part of the procedure of the transition is to present the Pastoral Support Package agreed to by the Pastoral Search Team for approval by the congregation before the new pastor begins their appointment at Peace. The Church Conference will be the opportunity for the congregation to move, discuss and vote on his Pastoral Support Package.

Thanks to all of you for making last weekend such a success!

Bobby Jo Valentine presented a great concert on Saturday night, and donations to OutFront totaled just over $2000. Bobby blessed us with music and conversation at worship on Sunday as well. Gary had the time of his life “bouncing around” and talking to everyone!

Bobby decided to spend some additional time in the Twin Cities and invites everyone to his impromptu concert tomorrow night, Wednesday, March 30, from 6-8 pm, at the Aloft Hotel, 900 West Washington Avenue, Minneapolis, MN.

Affirm

Pastor Gary will be at Camp Onomia from April 1-3 on a retreat with the Affirm group. On April 10 (which is also Palm Sunday) we will affirm who these young people are. On Sunday, April 3, Pastor Linda Koelman and Jean Leatherman will provide leadership in Gary’s absence. As a first Sunday, Communion will be offered as well.

Easter Flowers

Hummingbird Floral is providing a variety of flowers again this year to help us decorate the sanctuary for Affirm Sunday and Easter Sunday.

Please submit your orders no later than this coming Sunday, April 3, so your flowers will be here in time! Use the attached order form to tell us what kind of plant(s) you want; then either

  • Mail the form and your check to the church so we receive in by Sunday, April 3, or
  • Leave the form with your payment in the offering plate on Sunday, April 3.

You may pick up your plant after Easter worship on April 17.

Minnesota FoodShare Month

One way to observe Easter is to learn more about the impact of supply chain problems on local food shelves like the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf and how you can help. Your efforts will provide food and other programming and services for nearly 3000 children, adults and seniors that receive services from the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf each month.

Drop off food and hygiene products at the Food Shelf by April 11. Drop-off times are M-F, 9-noon, or by appointment (651-621-6282). Or donate funds online at (http://www.ralphreederfoodshelf.org/).

Our new pastor: Jason Steffenhagen!

The Staff-Parish Relations Committee and the Pastoral Search Team have unanimously approved the intention of Bishop David Bard to appoint Pastor Jason Steffenhagen our new pastor effective Sunday, May 1. During an extensive interview, it became clear that he was a great fit for Peace Community of Faith spiritually, theologically, and personally. Pastor Jason is currently serving as an associate pastor at The Well UMC in Rose-mount. Please help us welcome Pastor Jason and his family to Peace on Sunday, May 1.

Good Neighbor Meal on Saturday, April 30

Volunteers may sign up for one or both time slots (prep from 9-11 am, and/or serve and clean up from 11 am-1:30 pm). Sign up here to help.
