Easter Worship (April 4): Please RSVP!

If your Easter morning starts with worshipping in-person at Peace Community of Faith (10:00 am), we’d really like to know it. Please email Pastor Gary by Wednesday, March 31 so we can plan appropriately. Thanks for your cooperation, and we really hope to see you on Easter!

To order flowers for our sanctuary on Easter and/or to donate to our local Ralph Reeder Food Shelf during MN Foodshare month, see our website. Remember to submit your flower orders and payment no later than Sunday, March 28, so they’ll be here in time.

State COVID Update

Last week, Gov. Walz released new state requirements which are now in effect. Regarding places of worship, things have not really changed for Peace. But now we officially have no limit beyond the sanctuary’s capacity for household units to be able to maintain 6’ social distancing from each other, and we must continue to wear masks.

We remain hopeful that the state numbers of cases, hospitalizations and deaths will continue to decrease, and that the number of vaccinated people will increase. Barring a new surge in cases, Interim Bishop David Bard of the Minnesota Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church plans to move the dial on the Conference Phased Re-Gathering Plan right after Easter. We will keep you posted on this tentative good news.

General Conference Postponed to 2022

The Commission on the General Conference has announced its decision to further postpone the 2020 General Conference another year. It is now scheduled to meet in Minneapolis from August 29-September 6, 2022.

In addition, the Council of Bishops has called for an online Special Session of the General Conference on May 8, 2021. Its purpose is to gain a quorum to suspend certain rules in order to allow use of paper ballots for 12 pieces of legislation that would enable the church to continue effectively until the postponed General Conference in 2022.
