Penny’s Sense for Monday
By admin ~ June 24th, 2009. Filed under: Hugh's News, News.
Well there seemed to be several items to pass on to people before Thursday, so here is the Monday News…
From VBS Staff:
Hi all,
Just a few updates regarding vacation bible school.
If you took a “firefly” donation from the VBS wish board, please drop the donation off at the church office by June 30. If you are loaning some items for VBS week, please let one of us.
Bible school runs August 3rd – 8th from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. It is open to children 3 years of age to kids going into 5th grade this fall. Kids in middle school and high school can volunteer to be youth helpers for the week. The cost is $20 for each child involved (including helpers) and covers the cost of a VBS t-shirt, crafts and snacks each day. Attached is a registration form, PLEASE complete and send the form and money to the church office. This will help greatly with planning.
Also, we could still use some more adult helpers, please contact one of us if you are available/interested in helping.
Youth participating in “The Band” practice on Sunday mornings in Pioneer Hall from 9:00 – 10:00.
All youth/adults interested in helping to create our Crocodile Dock Bayou decorations clear your calendars for the following dates and meet us at the church.
Thursday June 25th, 1:30 – 4:00 and Wednesday, July 8th, 1:30 – 4:00.
We will add more dates if needed. Please let us know if you can make it!

From Carol Beatty:
The COSROW group is responsible for serving the Good Neighbor meal next Saturday, June 27. Since it is summer, we could use some additional help. Call (651-482-1128) or email (carollee73@msn.com) Carol Beatty if you are available to prepare some food or work that morning. We are planning simple recipes and menu that can be made in advance to serve that day.
Volunteer Schedules:
Volunteer Schedules for Greeters, Communion Severs, and Ushers for July – December 2009 are posted on the Peace web site (as well as the reader and sound technician schedule for the entire year).
Labyrinth Volunteer Opportunity:
Last Saturday (June 20th) construction around the labyrinth continued. Come check out the retaining wall that was built. It is a very nice addition to the labyrinth. Next Saturday, June 27th, the work will continue on the labyrinth: planting, placement of the peace pole and brochure box, etc. If you can volunteer any of your time, it would be appreciated. Contact Helen Nelson, 612-581-6935 for questions.
